ARMYs Urge HYBE To Cancel Screenings of BTS’s Jungkook’s Documentary “Due To Boycott”

The documentary is set to be released in cinemas worldwide for a limited time, premiering on September 18th. It promises to feature exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes content and performances.

While many ARMYs are excited for the release and have already purchased tickets, a portion of the fandom is calling for a boycott.

In response to official posts by companies such as Trafalgar, which manages venues and theaters, some ARMYs have demanded that the screenings of “JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL” in Israel be canceled.

This request stems from the ongoing conflict in Palestine. Since October 2023, the Gaza Strip has seen devastating casualties, with reports from Al Jazeera indicating that over 40,223 people, including nearly 16,500 children, have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks. The situation has left thousands missing and countless others injured, displaced and struggling to survive.

Israel has been accused of being an “apartheid state” due to its policies and actions in the occupied Palestinian territories. Many netizens believe it is unethical for HYBE to release “JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL” in Israel, especially given the ongoing conflict with Palestine.

Leading human rights organizations have labeled Israel’s treatment of Palestinians as a crime against humanity, specifically apartheid. However, Israel and some of its Western allies have denied these accusations, often labeling them as antisemitic.

Given this context, ARMYs have taken to social media to urge HYBE to cancel the screenings of “JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL” in Israel. They are raising awareness with the hashtag #HYBEDivestFromZionism, which has generated over 11,600 posts at the time of writing. Fans are also contacting the companies directly, hoping to influence their decision. Previously, similar efforts were made by fans to cancel the screenings of documentaries for SEVENTEEN and BTS’s Suga.
