A shocking incident has shaken the idol community after Aoi Marin, former member of MELODY MELLOW, discovered five hidden cameras inside her dressing room. The discovery led to the immediate arrest of a fan involved in a private photoshoot with the idol.
MELODY MELLOW, a Japanese girl group that debuted on January 17, 2025, saw Marin part ways with the group in July. Since then, she has remained active by engaging with fans online and hosting private photoshoots—sessions typically monitored by her manager to ensure her safety.
However, despite these precautions, Marin faced a frightening ordeal at the end of August. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she revealed that while preparing to change into a swimsuit, she uncovered five hidden cameras disguised as coat hooks and USB outlets.
The cameras were strategically placed, making them difficult to detect at first glance. Fortunately, Marin noticed the devices before changing.
The fan scheduled for the photoshoot was arrested by police on the spot.

Marin later shared her feelings in a statement:
“Warning: This happened during a private photoshoot with a fan whom I trusted, under the condition that my manager was present. Five hidden cameras had been set up in the changing room. Even now, I feel terrified when I think about what would have happened if I hadn’t noticed them. To all performers, especially those doing photoshoots, please be careful.”

The incident has sparked concerns about idol safety, especially in one-on-one fan interactions such as private photoshoots. Netizens have expressed both relief at Marin’s vigilance and outrage at the breach of trust.
With the fan under investigation, the case underscores the need for stricter security measures to protect idols from predatory behavior, even in seemingly controlled environments.
