On December 18, Hong Kong media outlet HK01 reported that Taiwanese actress Andrea Chen publicly addressed a series of accusations that have severely impacted her mental health. Known as one of the “five beauties” of National Taiwan University, the actress said she has been subjected to defamation that pushed her into depression and even led her to harbor suicidal thoughts.
Andrea Chen recently became embroiled in controversy after being accused of acting as a third party in other people’s marriages. According to the actress, although she had previously been pursued by several well-known public figures, media narratives instead portrayed her as a “homewrecker,” a label she firmly denied.
“My suicide note was almost finished, so you don’t need to waste any more time,” Andrea Chen said emotionally. “You describe two of the most handsome men in Taiwan—men I once rejected—as gods, yet write about me as a mistress. This is fabricated and completely untrue.”
The actress explained that she initially chose to remain silent to protect others’ reputations, but felt compelled to speak out as the situation escalated beyond control.
The backlash intensified after reports claimed Andrea Chen had allegedly approached multiple former classmates who are now married. According to SETN, several alumni said they received private messages from the actress over the past few years. In these messages, Andrea Chen reportedly expressed emotional distress and asked to meet in person to talk.
The alleged meetings often took place late at night at cafés or near the classmates’ residences. Some claimed that Andrea Chen appeared wearing sleepwear, camisoles, or short pants. Former classmates further alleged that she asked personal questions about their private lives, income, and even whether they were open to dating. Feeling uncomfortable, some said they eventually blocked her contact.
Andrea Chen, born in 1987, began her career as a commercial model and music video actress before officially debuting as a television actress in 2011. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Maggie in the hit drama In Time With You.
She later appeared in projects such as Tiny Times, My Ghostly Boyfriend, Iron Heart, and Prince William. However, her career was previously derailed by a major scandal involving leaked photos that allegedly showed her in an affair with actor Joseph Chang while he was dating actress Wan Qian. The incident led to public backlash and caused Andrea Chen to withdraw from the entertainment industry for an extended period.
