Almost a decade since YG announced “Future 2NE1”: Where are the members now?

All 4 members of “Future 2NE1” left YG years ago.

In July 2012, YG Entertainment drew attention with a video titled “Future 2NE1”, through which 4 female trainees were introduced. The video showcases impressive vocal and dancing skills of all 4 members. They were once expected to become the next legendary YG girl group following 2NE1. However, despite being a YG trainee for a long time, none of these girls had the opportunity to debut in BLACKPINK. A decade has passed, and now, all members of “Future 2NE1” have left YG and gone their separate ways.

Youha

Youha, real name Im Soo Ah, was a YG trainee from 2010 to 2019. After parting ways with YG, she debuted as a solo artist under Universal Music Korea. Her debut song, “Island”, was released in September 2020.

Aside from singing, Youha is also active as a composer. Some of the songs that she participated in producing include “PTT (Paint The Town)” and “Wow” by LOONA, “What I Said” by VICTON and “Sober” by JUNNY.

fromis_9’s Seo Yeon

Seo Yeon started her trainee life at YG from 2010, when she was in 4th grade. She was there for 6 years. The same year BLACKPINK debuted, since she did not make it into the lineup, instead of continuing to wait, Seo Yeon decided to leave YG to find new opportunities.

In 2017, Seo Yeon participated in Mnet’s survival reality show “Idol School”. She placed 7th overall and got to debut in the winning group. In January 2018, she officially greeted the public as the main rapper of fromis_9

Billlie’s Moon Sua

Moon Sua is often known to the public as the younger sister of ASTRO’s Moon Bin. She was a trainee at YG for 10 years, from 2009 to 2019. In 2015, she competed on Mnet’s rap competition show “Unpretty Rapstar” and won 4th place overall.

Fans once expected Sua to become the “ace” of YG’s new girl group, but she ended up leaving. In February 2020, Sua signed with Mystic Story. In November 2021, she debuted as a member of the rookie girl group Billlie, where she takes on the role of the main rapper.

Roya

Roya, real name Park Seo Young, was a YG trainee from 2010 to 2017. After saying goodbye to YG, in 2018, she joined Mnet’s survival reality show “Produce” 48 as an independent trainee with no agency. She was eliminated from the show in 55th place.

There is no information that Roya joined another entertainment company after leaving YG. In May 2020, she debuted as a solo artist and released her debut single “Butterfly”.
