annie shinsegae knowing bros appearance

Annie, a member of rookie co-ed group ALLDAY PROJECT, is set to make her first full-group variety show appearance on JTBC’s Knowing Bros on November 15. In the episode, Annie opens up about her surprising background, revealing that her mother is none other than Chung Yoo-kyung, President of Shinsegae.

ALLDAY PROJECT, which debuted in June, quickly rose to fame not only for their musical talent but also due to Annie’s high-profile lineage. Annie is the eldest daughter of Chung Yoo-kyung and the granddaughter of Lee Myung-hee, chairwoman of Shinsegae Group and sister of the late Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee.

During the broadcast, Annie shares a unique story behind her debut. “My parents told me I could only become a singer if I got into an Ivy League school,” she says. “But I think they said that assuming I wouldn’t actually make it.”

She also explains the origin of her stage name: “The name Annie was given to me by the director of the English kindergarten I attended. I only used it in the U.S., but now even my parents call me Annie.” She adds endearingly, “My mom refers to herself as ‘Annie’s Mom’ now.”

Despite being the daughter of a powerful businesswoman, Annie’s candid anecdotes and cheerful presence on Knowing Bros show a more relatable, down-to-earth side of the young idol and her famous family.

The Knowing Bros episode featuring ALLDAY PROJECT airs at 9 p.m. KST on November 15.
