AleXa becomes the first K-pop artist to claim victory in NBC’s American Song Contest

The first-ever winner of NBC’s American Song Contest is AleXa! 

On May 10th (Korean time), through its official SNS, NBC announced that AleXa (Kim Se Ri) has won the first edition of America’s singing competition program “American Song Contest”. AleXa‘s victory makes her the first K-pop artist in history to be crowned the winner of an American audition program.

Representing her home state Oklahoma, she excellently defeated other strong competitors to win the American Song Contest with an electrifying performance of her dance-pop song “Wonderland” in the finale. Throughout the competition, AleXa showed off powerful vocals, elaborate staging, well-choreographed dance performances, eye-catching stylings, and impressive stage presence. She is an artist who embodies everything that makes K-pop a global phenomenon.

The 26-year-old American-Korean singer left the States for Korea in 2018 and competed in Mnet’s survival show Produce 48”. The following year, AleXa made her debut in the K-pop scene with the single “Bomb”. The song sat at No. 7 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart.
