AKMU Lee Chanhyuk revealed the reason for voluntarily joining the Marine Corps.
On August 21st, AKMU Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun were invited as guests to the live broadcast of the YouTube channel “Calm Down Man”.
The two shared various stories, from the story about the release of the new song to their recent status. Lee Chanhyuk confessed why he voluntarily joined the Marine Corps.
Lee Chanhyuk enlisted at the age of 22 in 2017 and served faithfully. He said, “Until then, we had a strong audition group image. There was a lot of music we wanted to do, but the images we could digest were limited.“
Breaking up with his ex-lover was also a reason for Lee Chanhyuk’s decision to enlist.
Lee Chanhyuk surprised everyone by saying, “To be honest, I enlisted after breaking up (with my ex-lover). The song that came out after that was ‘How Can I Love The Heartbreak, You’re The One I Love’.“
He explained, “I made a lot of songs in the army. I thought I should become a person who knows how to break up maturely by unraveling breakups through an album.”
Lee Chanhyuk’s confession surprised Lee Suhyun as she covered her mouth with one hand. When Calm Down Man asked “You didn’t know?“, Lee Suhyun caused laughter by making a mental breakdown gesture, saying, “I didn’t know he’d say this.“
Meanwhile, AKMU made a comeback after 2 years with their 4th single “Love Lee”. As of the morning of August 22nd, the new song “Love Lee”, which was released the previous day, topped the real-time charts of Bugs and Naver Vibe. The track “Fry’s Dream” also rose to No.2.
