BABYMONSTER’s Ahyeon, “Little Jennie? She’s Been My Role Model Since Trainee Days”

Ahyeon expressed her feelings about debuting with BABYMONSTER after hiatus and showed respect for senior singer BLACKPINK's Jennie

On the morning of April 1st, BABYMONSTER (Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora and Chiquita) held a press conference at YG’s new office building in Mapo-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of their first mini album “BABYMONS7ER”.

BABYMONSTER is the new girl group that YG introduced for the first time in 7 years after BLACKPINK’s debut. They took their first step in the music industry by releasing the song “BATTER UP” in November last year. Unfortunately, Ahyeon was not able to join the members at that time due to health problems, but she finally returned to the group for “BABYMONS7ER” promotion. With this mini album, BABYMONSTER officially debuted as a whole group of seven members.

Regarding her feelings, Ahyeon said, “I wanted to recover quickly and return to the team. That’s why I had no worries before joining the members”, adding “It’s hard to disclose in detail, but I had a hard time mentally. I focused on recovering my condition and tried to stay healthy by exercising regularly at home. I’m fully recovered now and I’m happy to be with everyone like this.”

Rora also added, “We’ve known each other for a long time so we always thought we would definitely debut together as 7. I’m glad the opportunity for the seven of us to unite strongly has come.”

Ahyeon has showcased her talents ever since her performances in the group’s pre-debut survival show. Therefore, many people looked forward to her debut and raised high expectations for her potential to become an all-rounder artist. In particular, some even gave Ahyeon the nickname “Little Jennie”.

In this regard, Ahyeon confessed, “Senior singer Jennie has been my idol since I was a trainee. As my role model, she gave me great inspiration and it’s my honor to receive the nickname ‘Little Jennie’. As a junior idol, I want to be kind to the seniors and fans and hope to find my own color, like senior singer Jennie”.
