Ahn Bo-hyun Directly Explains Last Year’s Personality Controversy 

Recently, Ahn Bo-hyun had an interview at a cafe in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, after the end of SBS’s Fri-Sat drama “Flex X Cop”.

Earlier in August last year, Ahn Bo-hyun was embroiled in a controversy over his personality due to a scene in the making video of tvN’s drama “Yumi’s Cells” released in September 2021. The controversial scene showed Ahn Bo-hyun leaning against a table and looking at the script book held by a female staff member standing next to him. As a result, some netizens criticized him, saying “Can’t you hold the script by yourself? Did you ask the staff to do it on purpose?”.

Ahn Bo-hyun was surrounded with malicious comments but his agency did not release any response. The issue only cooled down when the female staff member in the video, who was a stylist in charge of the actor’s costume, explained it in an interview with the media, saying “There was a sudden change in the schedule so I showed him the script to tell him about that. The controversy is such a nonsense. Ahn Bo-hyun never asked me to hold the script for him”.

In fact, Ahn Bo-hyun has been considered one of the actors who has a kind personality and doesn’t cause controversies. Therefore, he must have felt so unfair back then but both the actor and his agency did not issue any official position.

When asked why he didn’t give an explanation when the controversy broke out, Ahn Bo-hyun confessed, “I was very shocked. I thought people who didn’t know the situation would misunderstand it. I and the staff member are close like family. I’ve never changed my agency, stylist, hair staff, etc. for 12-13 years, so I didn’t think there would be a controversy. Even if I deny it, it would feel like an excuse only. That would burden me and also that staff friend even more”.

In addition, Ahn Bo-hyun shared, “I don’t know if the case has been resolved now, but the reason I didn’t make a big deal out of the controversial scene is because I never did such an action. If I really forced her to do that, we wouldn’t have been able to work together for 12-13 years. If I refuted it at that time, I wondered if things would get any better or become more complicated. I believe that only people who know the situation need to understand it. Rather, the stylist team felt sorry. We didn’t think about it anymore. Even now, we are still getting along well with each other”.

Meanwhile, Ahn Bo-hyun’s next project “2 O’Clock Date” is scheduled to premiere in June.
