Additional Comments Regarding BTS Suga’s Negligence During Military Service Drew Attention

Suga, who is serving as a social service worker, fell while riding an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of August 6th. Some police officers walking nearby found Suga and noticed that he was drunk so they handed him over to a local district police office. According to the breathalyzer test, Suga’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, which was high enough for a license revocation.

Since the 0.227% was too high compared to Suga’s statement about riding the scooter after drinking only a cup of beer, netizens criticized him even more. Eventually, his agency Big Hit Music released an apology on the 7th.

As Suga caused drunk driving controversy during his military service as a social service worker, witnesses and revelations of Suga’s service were also revealed. Social service worker A, who claimed to have received basic training with Suga for five days from the 20th to the 24th of November last year, shared, “Suga was the leader but he never participated in class properly for four nights and five days”, adding “The instructor scolded him but he just nodded, looked at his phone then went back to sleep. Suga’s participation in the unit was the lowest. He was like a bully”.

Eventually, a civil petition was filed with the Military Manpower Administration to investigate Suga’s attitude during military service. The petition has been handed over to the Seoul Regional Military Manpower Administration and they are currently investigating.

Later, A aroused attention as they continued to expose Suga’s negligence during service, saying “I ended up in the news because of Suga. I could be beaten to death by ARMY (BTS’s fandom), right?”.

Someone commented, “Isn’t Suga’s company going to sue you?”. A replied, saying “Even if they sue me for saying he was like a bully, I don’t think I’ll get fined. No matter how much I look at it. Fortunately, I didn’t write too much back then”.

Another person said, “If what you said was true, nothing would happen to you”. A added, “I know nothing will happen to me anyway. I’m just relieved that I wrote it 9 months ago in a police way”.

Replying to a comment asking “Is the content true?”, A said, “If it was a lie, I would have deleted the post and run away. Like others, the problem is that despite knowing he could get ‘special leave’ as a group leader and he’s a public figure, his participation was low and the instructor even scolded him. This made me have a bad impression of him”.

Meanwhile, Suga’s electric scooter is classified as a motor bicycle under the Automobile Management Act. Since it’s equivalent to a car under the Road Traffic Act, riding it while drunk can be subject to criminal punishment. The police already completed confirming his travel distance and route, and Suga is currently coordinating with the investigation.
