On October 26, at the AIFF Asian International Film Festival 2024 in Macau’s Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Center, Korean actress Clara was awarded the “Best Actress in Asian Cinema” and “Outstanding Actress in Asian Cinema” for her roles in 2 Chinese films.
Here, Clara expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am incredibly honored to receive this award among such esteemed actors from East Asia and the Chinese-speaking world. I look forward to giving back with even better performances.”
Meanwhile, the AIFF Asian International Film Festival was attended by various notable stars in the industry, as well as directors and industry leaders from across Asia. It also saw saw 619 films from 23 countries and regions competing in 5 categories.
Clara’s double win has solidified her reputation as both a box-office draw and a talented actress in China.
On the other hand, Clara attracted attention by telling an anecdote that she almost entered SM and JYP Entertainment through street casting in the past.
“I was working at a cafe Park Jin-young frequented, and he suggested I debut as a singer,” she recalled.
She also mentioned that SM approached her around the same time, hinting that they were creating Girls’ Generation.
“I have some regrets about not accepting,” she admitted.
However, Clara explained, “My father was a singer, and he wanted me to pursue acting, which was my own dream as well. Had I accepted, I wouldn’t have spent eight years in relative obscurity—but still, I don’t regret my choice.”
The actress also said in a variety show that when she was in the U.S., she received business cards from SM and JYP Entertainment through street casting, but she wasn’t interested in it.
