Actor who got his first solo lead role after 19 years of debut

Actor Jin Seon Kyu played Wi Seong Rak, a member of Jang Chen (Yoon Kye Sang)’s gang, in the movie “The Outlaws” (2017). Thanks to this role, he won “Best Supporting Actor” at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for the first time in his life.

Afterwards, he digested a wide range of characters that cross good and evil in works of various genres such as “Extreme Job” (2019), “Space Sweepers” (2021) and “Confidential Assignment 2: International” (2022).

Jin Seon Kyu will appear as former gold medalist-turned-gym teacher Si Heon, who meets his students and strikes a pleasant blow to the world, in “Count”.

“Count” is a movie created by adding various characters and episodes based on the anecdote of boxer Park Si Heon, who won a gold medal in the men’s light middleweight category at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Park Si Heon was awarded victory over Roy Jones Jr. of the United States even though most observers considered that Jones had clearly won. The result was widely condemned and led to reforms in the way boxing is scored at the Olympics.

After the 1988 Olympics, Park Si Heon retired from boxing. He served as a high school physical education teacher in Jinhae, Gyeongsangnam-do. 

“Count”, Jin Seon Kyu’s first solo lead film after 19 years of debut, will be released on Feb 22nd.
