Wang Xing, who traveled to Thailand for a purported film project, found himself ensnared in a harrowing experience involving confinement and coercion.
According to reports, Wang was deceived into believing he had secured a role in a film, prompting his journey to Thailand. Upon arrival, he was confined in a building alongside approximately 50 Chinese nationals, all subjected to forced activities. Wang recounted that during his captivity, he and others were compelled to participate in typing exercises, raising suspicions of involvement in telecommunications fraud operations.
The actor’s ordeal came to an end after 78 hours when Myanmar authorities located and rescued him near the Mekong River, close to the Myanmar-Thailand border. Following his rescue, Wang was transported back to Bangkok, where he expressed gratitude towards the Thai government and immigration office for ensuring his safe return. He emphasized that Thailand remains a relatively safe country and expressed openness to returning in the future.
