Actor Nam Da-reum, who used to play the young version of Jung Hae-in and Kim Seon-ho, quietly enlisted on Feb 8th – His mom left a tearful message
Nam Da-reum, who began acting as a child actor, quietly enlisted in the military.
On February 8th, Nam Da-reum’s mother posted on SNS, saying, “My son has bravely and healthily joined the military on the scheduled date”, adding, “From today, he’s the son of the country^^ Please take care of him. Thank you everyone for remembering and supporting him.”
Nam Da-reum entered the boot camp of the 27th Infantry Division in Hwacheon, Gangwon-do. After 5 weeks of training here, he will be deployed to the military base and fulfill his national defense obligations until August 7th, 2023.
Nam Da-reum’s mother said, “After sending you off to the army, I think I would feel so sad to see your room empty with lights off every night… Maybe I couldn’t go to your room for a while ㅜㅜ. That’s what I thought. Sending my son off to the training center, I came back home alone. In the empty house with no lights on, I cried and stopped then cried again repeatedly. After gaining back my courage, I went to my son’s room”.
She continued to express her affection towards her son, saying, “You turned off the heater before leaving but leave the light of the dreamcatcher on your bed on. When I saw the lit dreamcatcher, I burst into tears again. I don’t like posting T.M.I (too much information) like this, but… This is a special night on Feb 8th, the first day I gave my son to the country and also the day when he cut his hair and started a new life.”
Nam Da-reum debuted in KBS’s 2009 drama “Boys Over Flowers”, playing the young version of Kim Hyun-joong. Nam Da-reum turns 21 this year. The actor drew attention when suddenly delivering the news of his enlistment, saying, “Since I was younger, I have already had a goal of enlisting in the military early. I couldn’t enlist when I was 20, so I’m glad that I can go at the age of 21”.
