The Chinese entertainment industry has been rocked by the shocking news that actor Darren Wang and a man surnamed Yu were urgently arrested on charges of attempted murder. According to authorities, Darren Wang allegedly instructed and incited Yu to brutally assault a driver and a vehicle coordinator of a platform. The two victims sustained severe injuries. The “Our Times” actor, born in 1991, reportedly committed the crime after failing to figure out how to open the door of his rented Tesla. Frustrated, he blamed the victims and ordered Yu to take revenge on them.
According to China Times, the suspect Yu is a close friend of Darren Wang. His full name is Yu Tang-min, and he is the son of one of Taiwan’s wealthiest car dealership owners. With his influential background and extravagant spending habits, Yu is highly regarded in social circles and is even referred to as “Sir Yu”.
Yu Tang-min previously had a brief romance with Lin Tian-you, a stunning and charismatic actress-MC born in 1992. Lin publicly confirmed her relationship with Yu in 2018, but a year later, she erased all traces of their romantic moments from her social media, signaling their breakup.
Insiders revealed that after their split, Yu Tang-min went around telling people that he had been serious about his relationship with Lin Tian-you. During their time together, he claimed to have spent a fortune taking her on lavish vacations and buying her luxury items, only to be ruthlessly dumped in the end. His remarks were seen as an indirect accusation, implying that Lin Tian-you had used him for his wealth. This post-breakup scandal caused quite a stir in Chinese media at the time.
According to China Times, Yu Tang-min is well-connected with many celebrities in the entertainment industry. He has posted pictures hanging out with figures such as Kai Ko, Selina Jen, Chen Yi and Xu Kai-xi. Notably, among these celebrities, Kai Ko was previously arrested for drug use alongside Jaycee Chan, the son of Jackie Chan—a scandal that got him blacklisted from China’s entertainment industry.
