A surprising theory over the meaningful scene of Kang Ki-young at the end of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” episode 12 has been released

Heated discussions have been raised over the ending scene of ENA’s Wednesday-Thursday drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” episode 12.

Episode 12 of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, which aired on the evening of August 4th, made the viewers raise discussions about the conscience and duty of attorneys.

The story in this episode was about Hanbada law firm and attorney Ryu Jae-sook (Lee Bong-ryun) facing each other in a trial on Mir Life Insurance’s suggestion of voluntary retirement.

Mir Life Insurance, which was defended by Hanbada attorneys, including Woo Young-woo (Park Eun-bin), forced 100 female employees to resign through gender discrimination. Understanding the case, Woo Young-woo felt guilty as she had to defend her client. She then wondered about what the role of a true attorney is.

Regarding Woo Young-woo’s concern, her mentor Jung Myung-seok (Kang Ki-young) and Ryu Jae-sook, the attorney for the plaintiff, expressed different opinions. Jung Myung-seok firmly pointed out that it is the judge who decides what is right and what is social justice. On the other hand, Ryu Jae-sook advised that attorneys are also human and that they should make their own judgments on who they should defend.

Beside the trial development, the story of attorney Jung Myung-seok was depicted separately, raising the viewers’ curiosity. This is because Jung Myung-seok was seen showing his fear of being retaliated against by a client, who is a second-generation chaebol, he defended in the past. Described as a shameless murderer who killed his own father, the second-generation chaebol client was not satisfied with the sentence although it was greatly reduced thanks to the successful defense of Jung Myung-seok so he tried to take revenge on the attorney.

Jung Myung-seok, who continued to suffer from extreme anxiety in fear of being retaliated by his old client, was even seen coughing and vomiting blood when he was alone in his dark office. Discouraged by his current situation, Jung Myung-seok made a forced smile.

Episode 12 ended like that. After the broadcast, a netizen released a theory that attracted explosive reactions from many viewers.

This netizen said, “I think the ending of Jung Myung-seok in today’s episode is just for a comparison. Jung Myung-seok, who works at a large law firm and wins many cases but coughs up blood in a dark office where no one else is around and even suffers from murder threats, is opposite to attorney Ryu Jae-sook, who works in a small office and loses every day but can share warm meals with others under the clear sky.”

The Twitter post containing this theory is drawing keen attention and it has gained thousands of retweets.
