A singer was cursed at by the audience, the truth behind “mass refund” after his appearance
The behind the scene of a “mass refund” incident after this singer showed up on stage has been revealed.
On October 31st, a video titled “The reality of the Lee Chan Won incident – Behind the scenes directly revealed by an on-site official”, was published on the YouTube channel “Entertainment President Lee Jin Ho”.
In particular, Lee Chan Won attended the “1st Theme Park Picnic Gaul Grand Festival” held in Hwasun, Jeollanam-do on October 30th. However, after the Itaewon crowd crushing tragedy, the president announced a national mourning period. As a result, Lee Chan Won still went to the event and went on stage, but did not sing for condolence. The incident later went viral after a video captured the cursing of a dissatisfied audience, and thousands of refund requests were filled.
Regarding the situation, Lee Jin Ho explained, “It takes more than 4 hours to travel from Seoul to Hwasun, Jeollanam-do. Had it been a normal event, of course Lee Chan Won will go there, but the national mourning period was announced in the morning, so it was no longer necessary. He didn’t have to go the festival, but he still did.”
The reporter also added, “After the announcement, Lee Chan Won’s agency contacted the event organizers and said that it would be difficult to go to the venue. However, in order to have Lee Chan Won, the organizers sent photos of fans who have been camping outside since the previous day, and after seeing the photos, Lee Chan Won decided to visit the fans to greet fans who came after great difficulty.”
He continued, “On this day, a total of 5 artists, including Lee Chan Won, showed up. Some of them mourned in their own way, such as doing memorial services or singing quiet songs. However, Lee Chan Won showed up while dressed in a formal suit and greeted the audience politely, before saying that he won’t be performing due to the unfortunate Itaewon crowd crush.”
According to Lee Jin Ho, the majority of fans sympathized with Lee Chan Won’s action and applauded. However, some spectators allegedly cursed at the singer and used abusive language. Regarding this, an official said, “Only one drunken person used swear words”, and affirmed that there’s no other issue aside from this drunk audience.
But the real problem lies in the “refund situation” that happens afterwards. In particular, there were 22,000 people who visited the theme park that day, of which there were about 2-3 thousand fans of Lee Chan Won. But most of the singer’s fans did not ask for the refund.
Instead, other audiences went to the ticket office and demanded a refund after Lee Chan Won left the stage. About this, Lee Jin Ho said, “The organizers are still in a situation where they are confused and are still struggling to manage the situation. They asked Lee Chan Won to come back and sing after the mourning period.”
