A new Korean movie took 1st place on Netflix worldwide after one day of release

“Jung_E”, a new sci-fi movie directed by director Yeon Sang Ho, has risen to No.1 on Netflix’s global charts.

On January 22nd, global OTT ranking site Flix Patrol announced that as of January 21st, Korean sci-fi movie “Jung_E” ranked first in the Netflix movie category. In particular, the first came in 1st place in the film category in 32 countries around the world, including the United States.

“Jung_E” is a science fiction movie about people trying to develop the best combat artificial intelligence (AI) by cloning the brain of the legendary mercenary Jung Yi (Jung E). They did this in hope of ending the war in a shelter, where they migrated to after leaving earth, which was devastated by climate change. 

Actress Kim Hyun Joo played the role of Jung Yi, who led the allied forces to victory in numerous operations during the civil war. The late Kang Soo Yeon played the role of Seo Hyun, the head of a research institute that develops “Jung_E” through brain cloning in Chronoid.

On the other hand, director Yeon Sang Ho previously took first place in Netflix’s TV show category with the Netflix original series “Hellbound”.

Meanwhile, “Jung_E” was released on Netflix on January 20th.
