BTS recently celebrated the anniversary of their official fan club “ARMY” (July 9th) by releasing individual videos for each member on their official YouTube channel “BANGTANTV”.
In a video titled “Jung Kook Unwinds in Qatar”, Jungkook showcased his visit to Qatar for his performance at the opening ceremony of the “2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar”. The video features Jungkook enjoying his free time amidst his official schedule, displaying his unpretentious, cheerful, cute, down-to-earth and approachable personality.
Jungkook departed for Qatar on a chartered flight and received VIP treatment upon arrival, including being greeted with a bouquet at the airport.
On his first day, he went for a swim in the hotel pool, showcasing his swimming skills in breaststroke, underwater swimming and freestyle.
On the second day, despite saying “It’s boring hanging out alone. I’m bored“, Jungkook entertained himself with activities like “stretching in the water”, “taking commemorative diving photos”, “doing push-ups underwater” and “splashing water at the filming staff”, displaying his cute and fun solo play.
After rehearsing for the opening ceremony, Jungkook confessed, “Honestly, I’m not nervous, but I’m worried. I felt a little better after the rehearsal. There are some parts towards the end that I’m unsatisfied with. We’re short on time, but I think we need to change the choreography towards the end. Tomorrow, the dance team will arrive. We’ll learn the new choreography together. Then we have to memorize it all in a day. I think memorizing it will be fine.”
Even the day before the opening ceremony, Jungkook continued rehearsing alone, demonstrating his professionalism and passion. In the video, Jungkook, dressed in a swimsuit and goggles, amused fans with his precise and rhythmic dance moves.
Jungkook worked hard on his choreography with the dancers and, upon seeing the Korean flag at an amusement park, placed his hand on his heart and solemnly said “To our national team! You can do it! I’m rooting for you! We’re all rooting for you!“, sending a heartfelt message of support.
Within 9 hours of its release, Jungkook’s video surpassed 1 million views, and within 2 days, it exceeded 2 million views, making it the fastest among BTS members’ videos released on the same day to reach 1 million views. By the morning of July 12th, it was the first to exceed 2 million views among the members.
Additionally, it ranked 86th on YouTube’s trending videos, the only member video to do so, and reached 10th place on the Korea Daily Top Music Videos chart.
Jungkook made history as the first Korean singer to perform the official soundtrack “Dreamers” at the “2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar” opening ceremony, showcasing his global influence and stature. He delivered a flawless live vocal performance, presenting a new world of live performances.
The video of Jungkook’s “Dreamers” performance, titled “Jung Kook ‘Dreamers’ @ FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Opening Ceremony”, posted on BTS’s official YouTube channel “BANGTANTV”, has surpassed 170 million views and is ranked 5th among the channel’s most-watched videos.
