“A Killer Paradox” Choi Woo-sik “Reason for choosing script? I had a feeling that I would do well”

On Feb 1st, the press conference for Netflix’s “A Killer Paradox” (directed by Lee Chang-hee) was held at the Mondrian Hotel Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Lee Chang-hee, along with actors Choi Woo-sik, Son Suk-ku and Lee Hee-joon, attended the event.

“A Killer Paradox” tells the story of a man who accidentally murders a serial killer and a detective who pursues him relentlessly. It is based on the webtoon of the same name by Kkomabi. Actor Choi Woo-sik plays the role of Lee Tang, an ordinary college student who realizes that he has the ability to identify evil people after his first accidental murder.

When asked what attracted him to the script, Choi Woo-sik replied, “I found the original work very enjoyable. I also had a strong desire to portray the character Lee Tang well as an actor. I had a feeling that I would do well. It was an opportunity to work with senior actors and director Lee Chang-hee, so I jumped at it.”

Regarding the character of Lee Tang, Choi Woo-sik explained, “He is a character who was living a truly ordinary life as a college student. He starts committing murders accidentally due to a certain event. After that incident, he gradually realizes that he has the ability to discern villains. Initially, committing murders is not something he does because he wants to. As the character grows, there is internal growth as he begins to search for villains himself. I think a lot of focus was placed on that aspect.”

Choi Woo-sik highlighted the viewing points of the work as being like “bibimbap”, saying, “Although it’s a detective story, it incorporates various genres such as fantasy and noir. I hope viewers enjoy watching it as various characters come together well.

Netflix’s “A Killer Paradox” will be released on Feb 9th.
