Cosmetics brand Nature Republic, whose advertising model is group “NCT 127”, is making fans angry due to a slip of the tongue.
On Nov 21st, Nature Republic posted an event notice related to their advertising model “NCT 127” on their official Twitter account.
The content of the event was that winners randomly selected among the applicants will be presented polaroid photos with NCT 127’s autographs.
In a post, Nature Republic said, “The polaroid event ended yesterday. We were going to announce winners in December in case tens of thousands of people would apply. However, we could not even get 1,000 people, so we will announce winners today. Please pay a lot of attention.”
Fans claimed that Nature Republic mocked their model and fandom in connection with the fact that there were fewer applicants than expected. Fans got angry, saying, “Take away the phone of Nature Republic’s official account administrator“, “Does it make sense for a brand to voluntarily reduce their model’s value?“…
Currently, the controversial tweet has been deleted. Afterwards, Nature Republic released an apology on their official Twitter account on Nov 22nd.
Nature Republic apologized, “We apologize for causing inconvenience to NCT 127’s fans with inappropriate word choices and expressions. We will humbly accept all opinions and show you a cautious and responsible attitude in writing Twitter posts.”
However, even after the apology was uploaded, netizens’ reactions were cold. Netizens of the online community “theqoo” responded, “I’m already offended“, “I don’t see sincerity in the apology” and “The apology is shorter than the controversial post.”
