Netizens are paying attention to the “identity” the iconic blue orchid in “Little Women”
After the finale of hit K-drama “Little Women”, it becomes known that the blue orchid, which appeared as a sign of death in the play, was not a flower that actually existed. Instead, it was a “silk flower” (artificial flower) made as a prop to match the drama setting.
This was revealed on October 9th, when the artist team who made the blue orchids by hand posted on their Instagram account the caption, “Finally, the drama is over. We actually made the blue orchid, which became a topic as much as the drama.”
“Many people left comments like ‘It’s pretty’, ‘I don’t think it’s a real flower, what is it’, when they saw the blue orchid in the drama. We want to brag that we made the flowers. Only posting it now because officials told us to post it after the broadcast”, they said.
The artist team then continued, “After making the sample, we tested the camera and did a water drain test due to the nature of the humid warm room. We secretly made 350 flowers for two months after passing them all.”
Finally, they added, “They told us it was top secret, but I didn’t know it would get this big. The ‘Little Women’ production team worked hard to make a good drama. We especially want to thank the art team.”
The artist team also released several photos of handmade blue orchids in their post. The appearance of blue petals made of silk piling up attracts attention.
According to them, the production team of “Little Women” asked a company that makes handmade flowers to produce blue orchids before shooting the drama. In the end, the company and several artists collaborated and participated in the work, and the flowers were used as important props in the drama.
Below are some comments from netizens:
