Actor Yoo Ah-in, who made his debut in 2004 through the drama “Sharp“, won Grand Prize (Daesang) for Film Actor of the Year at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards held on Jan 2nd.
Recently, he showed great charisma as well as received a lot of attention and love by playing the role of “Jeong Jin-soo“, a cult leader of the emerging New Truth Society, in Netflix’s drama “Hellbound“.
It is known that Yoo Ah-in, who was born in Daegu in 1986, was discovered by a casting agent on the streets in front of the school while majoring in fine arts at Gyeongbuk Arts High School.
Yoo Ah-in, who recklessly came to Seoul despite his parents’ opposition, received vocal and dance training to debut as a solo idol but quitted because he seemed to have no talent. Afterwards, he prepared to debut as an actor then participated in the audition for the drama “Sharp” (2004).
At first, Yoo Ah-in took on the role of a one-shot character in “Sharp“, but he made a regular appearance after receiving great popularity beyond expectations. However, after a hiatus of more than a year, he returned to his hometown Daegu and took a break before coming back with the independent film “Boys of Tomorrow” (2007).
