Singer-songwriter WOODZ is officially making his feature film debut. The multi-talented artist has been cast in the upcoming historical action film Nambeol, joining an impressive lineup that includes Lee Byung-hun, Go Youn-jung, and Lee Do-hyun.

Nambeol is a hard-boiled martial arts action film set during the early Joseon Dynasty. The story follows nine warriors, each with different backgrounds, abilities, and social status, as they embark on a dangerous mission to Tsushima Island to rescue captives abducted by Japanese pirates (Wokou).

The project has already generated significant buzz following the announcements of Lee Byung-hun, Go Youn-jung, and Lee Do-hyun. The addition of WOODZ further raises anticipation for the star-studded production.

In the film, WOODZ will portray Cheotnom (“First Guy”), a highly skilled archer renowned for his exceptional accuracy. Driven by the need to provide for the family he left behind, the character joins the perilous expedition to Tsushima despite the life-threatening risks. Known for his commanding stage presence and artistic versatility as a musician, WOODZ is expected to showcase a new side of his talent as he transitions to acting on the big screen.

Cho Seung-youn first debuted in 2014 as a member of the multinational group UNIQ. He later gained renewed popularity after finishing fifth on Mnet’s survival show Produce X 101, earning a place in the project group X1. Following X1’s disbandment, he established himself as a successful solo artist under the name WOODZ, releasing songs such as: Different, Love Me Harder, Blue, Abyss. In 2025, his song “Drowning” experienced a viral resurgence, climbing back up the music charts and introducing his music to an even wider audience.
