Global pop star Ed Sheeran has added another K-pop collaboration to his résumé. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has been revealed as one of the songwriters behind KATSEYE‘s upcoming digital single “Animal,” marking a new collaboration between the British hitmaker and the HYBE x Geffen global girl group.
According to an exclusive report from TenAsia, Ed Sheeran is listed among the songwriters for “Animal,” which is scheduled for release on July 24 at 1 p.m. KST. The track serves as the pre-release single for KATSEYE’s third EP, WILD, arriving on August 14.
“Animal” is described as a high-energy pop track built around hard-hitting beats, an addictive hook, and bold, provocative lyrics. The music video teaser has already given fans a preview of both the song and its choreography, generating excitement ahead of the full release.
Since debuting in 2025 through the partnership between HYBE and Geffen Records, KATSEYE has continued to build international momentum. The group’s recent single “Gnarly” earned them their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, further establishing the multinational act as one of the industry’s fastest-rising global girl groups. The upcoming EP WILD is expected to build on that success.
Ed Sheeran is no stranger to collaborating with HYBE artists. The British singer-songwriter has written or co-written numerous global hits, including “Shape of You,” “Perfect,” and “Thinking Out Loud.” He has also contributed to several songs for BTS, including: “Permission to Dance” and “Make It Right”. Ed Sheeran’s connection with KATSEYE began before this latest collaboration. Last year, he shared the group’s song “Gnarly” on his Instagram Stories, describing it as a “new jam,” publicly showing his support for the group. He later met the members at the 2025 NRJ Music Awards, and that encounter has now led to an official musical collaboration through “Animal.”
