A new legal battle surrounding the estate of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu has ignited fierce debate across Chinese-speaking communities after reports claimed her husband, DJ Koo (Koo Jun Yup), is seeking to reclaim inheritance rights and contest part of the estate designated for her two children.
According to Sohu, the Korean singer has filed a lawsuit alleging that he was pressured into signing documents relinquishing his inheritance rights shortly after Barbie Hsu’s death while he was emotionally distraught and without legal or language assistance.
Court filings reportedly state that Koo Jun Yup believes his mother-in-law, Huang Chunmei, coerced him into giving up his inheritance while he was grieving. He also alleges that:

Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu’s family has denied allegations that they evicted him from their home but has not publicly addressed the remaining legal claims.
The reports quickly triggered heated reactions on Chinese social media. Many users criticized DJ Koo, accusing him of attempting to seize assets belonging to Barbie Hsu’s children.
