Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung appeared as a guest on YouTube show Donghaemulgwa Baekdueunhyuk, hosted by Super Junior members Donghae and Eunhyuk.

While discussing how idol groups determine their center positions, Donghae explained that Super Junior’s original center lineup was clearly defined from the beginning.

Eunhyuk then shared a humorous story from the group’s trainee days, revealing that he initially stood at the center during rehearsals for one of their songs before staff decided to replace him with Choi Siwon. *”At first I was upset, but after watching the monitor, even I thought, ‘Their judgment was right,'”_ Eunhyuk recalled.

Sooyoung related to the story by recalling Girls’ Generation’s own stage formations. She explained that Yoona, Yuri, and Seohyun frequently occupied the triangle center positions, while she never had a designated center role. ” At first, I just accepted it,” she said.

However, after years of promotions, she admitted she occasionally wondered why she never received the same opportunity. “Couldn’t they have given me a chance too? I have nice legs as well. For songs like Genie, couldn’t I have stood there once? But after so many years, those positions became fixed.”

She jokingly exclaimed: “Who doesn’t know that Yoona is beautiful!” Despite her playful frustration, Sooyoung ultimately praised her bandmate. “Looking back now, it’s obvious why. They really made the right decision.”

Yoona has long been regarded as one of K-pop’s top visual stars. She debuted as the center of Girls’ Generation in 2007 and became widely recognized through hits including Into the New World, Gee, and Genie.

Her popularity extended well beyond South Korea. According to previous reports, a Chinese media outlet conducted an online poll asking readers to vote for Asia’s most beautiful woman, with Yoona receiving 8,762,167 votes to claim first place ahead of several other well-known Asian celebrities. While online beauty polls are unofficial and reflect reader participation rather than any formal ranking, they underscore Yoona’s enduring popularity throughout Asia.

In addition to her successful music career, Yoona has established herself as a leading actress. Her recent drama King the Land enjoyed strong ratings and international popularity, and she is set to return to the big screen alongside Ahn Bo Hyun in the upcoming film The Devil Moved In.

Although Sooyoung humorously admitted she once wished for more time in the spotlight, she ultimately acknowledged what many fans have believed for years—that Yoona’s visuals naturally made her the ideal center of Girls’ Generation. With Yoona continuing to thrive as both an actress and singer, and Sooyoung expanding her own acting career, both stars remain among the most influential members of the legendary K-pop group.
