Following the news that singer-actress IU and actor Lee Jong Suk have ended their relationship after four years of public dating, recent comments made by IU’s close friend, actress Yoo In Na, have once again drawn attention.
In April, IU appeared on Yoo In Na’s YouTube channel, “Yoo In Radio,” where the two friends shared a candid conversation on various topics.

During the show, IU was asked whether she preferred “a partner who is like an alarm clock” or “a carefree, go-with-the-flow partner.” She chose the “alarm clock” type. IU explained, “If someone is always like, ‘I’m fine with anything,’ I think I’d lose some energy. I’m the type who adjusts myself to other people, so I think someone like an alarm clock would be cute.”
Yoo In Na immediately laughed and replied, “Don’t be ridiculous.” She continued, “If someone asks IU to do something, she’ll go along with everything. She follows along to a dangerous extent. Even when she’s completely exhausted, she doesn’t tell anyone she’s drained. She finishes everything first, then collapses afterward and ends up in the hospital. She should choose the carefree type of partner instead.”

Laughing, IU agreed, saying, “Maybe that would be better.”
Meanwhile, on July 10, IU and Lee Jong Suk officially announced their breakup. Both of their agencies stated that the two had decided to part ways and remain supportive colleagues. However, they declined to comment on the timing or reason for the breakup, citing privacy.

IU and Lee Jong Suk first met while hosting SBS’s Inkigayo in 2012 and remained close friends for nearly a decade. In December 2022, after Lee Jong Suk won the Grand Prize at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards, he thanked a special person during his acceptance speech, saying: “After completing my military service, I went through many worries and fears. There was someone who helped me become a better person and think more positively. Thank you for always being so wonderful. I’ve liked you for a very long time, and I truly respect you.” His heartfelt words quickly sparked dating rumors, and the following day both stars confirmed they were in a relationship, becoming one of Korea’s most beloved celebrity couples.

However, after four years of publicly dating, the couple has now decided to end their romantic relationship, leaving many fans saddened by the news.
