BTS is set to receive one of the highest civic honors in Argentina ahead of its upcoming concerts. Following a campaign led by local fans, the La Plata City Council has officially designated all seven BTS members as Honorary Guests of the city. With the concerts still three months away, local authorities have already begun preparing transportation, security, and accommodation plans to welcome the global superstars.

According to Argentine media reports on July 3 (local time), the La Plata City Council unanimously approved a resolution naming the BTS members “Huéspedes de Honor” (Honorary Guests) ahead of their performances this October at Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona. The title represents one of the city’s highest official honors and is typically awarded to distinguished visitors and internationally recognized figures in culture and the arts.

The decision came after months of dedicated efforts by the local BTS fandom, ARMY. Fan groups, including BTS La Plata, organized rallies and awareness campaigns outside city hall while closely following council discussions. Their efforts ultimately helped secure the honorary designation. The city council cited BTS’s enormous global cultural influence and their contribution to promoting the Korean language and Korean culture worldwide. It also praised ARMY’s charitable and volunteer activities, recognizing the fandom’s positive impact on local communities as part of the reasoning behind the resolution.

As the concerts approach, local businesses and government agencies have also begun making extensive preparations. The City of La Plata is working with concert organizers, the hospitality industry, and related agencies to implement transportation and public safety measures in anticipation of the large influx of visitors. Julio Alak has reportedly been personally overseeing the preparations and coordinating support efforts. BTS is scheduled to perform its ARIRANG World Tour at Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona on October 21 and October 23–24, becoming the first Korean act to headline the venue.
