MBC has officially scheduled Lee Dong-wook’s hit series A Shop for Killers Season 1 for its Friday-Saturday primetime slot. The drama now faces direct competition from So Ji-sub’s Agent Kim Reactivated, which has already reached an impressive 15.7% nationwide rating by its second episode. Viewers are now watching closely to see whether A Shop for Killers can capture the same level of attention.
On July 3, MBC begins airing the special series A Shop for Killers Season 1. The drama follows Jung Ji-an, played by Kim Hye-jun, whose life is turned upside down after she becomes the target of professional assassins because of a mysterious shopping mall left behind by her late uncle, Jung Jin-man, portrayed by Lee Dong-wook.
The opening episode centers on Ji-an after the sudden death of her only remaining family member, her uncle Jin-man. Just as she tries to return to her normal life following his funeral, she begins uncovering suspicious clues he left behind. Before she can even process her grief, an invisible sense of danger surrounds her, while the hidden truth about Jin-man’s past gradually comes to light.
The relationship between Jin-man and Ji-an also proves to be far more complicated than that of a typical guardian and child. At times he cared for her deeply, while at other moments he treated her with unexpected strictness. The drama raises questions about why he chose such an unusual approach and what secrets motivated his decisions. As Ji-an finds herself caught in increasingly dangerous situations, memories from her childhood begin revealing a side of her uncle she never truly understood.
