According to reports released on June 26, the Beijing Internet Court determined that Li’s online posts contained unsubstantiated accusations and damaged Angelababy’s reputation.

The court ordered him to issue a public apology for 30 consecutive days and pay the actress 70,000 yuan in compensation for emotional distress. Angelababy reportedly donated the entire amount to campaigns promoting awareness of cyberbullying.

Court Finds Rumors Unsubstantiated

Li had previously accused Angelababy of losing 10 billion yuan through illegal gambling and becoming involved with another person’s partner. He also claimed that she had an affair with actor Deng Lun inside a vehicle while filming My True Friend, despite being married to Huang Xiaoming at the time. Li further alleged that money had been paid to prevent the story from becoming public.

The claims spread widely online and led to criticism against Angelababy. However, the court reportedly found no factual basis supporting the accusations and concluded that the posts constituted defamation. The ruling is a significant legal victory for the actress, who has faced repeated rumors about her marriage, divorce and private life.

Career Remains Under Pressure

Despite the favorable ruling, Angelababy continues to face difficulties in rebuilding her career in mainland China. Her activities were heavily affected following controversy over reports that she attended Lisa’s performance at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris in 2023. Since then, she has reportedly received fewer television, film and major advertising opportunities.

Chinese media have claimed that she has recently attended auditions and accepted smaller commercial projects while attempting to return to regular entertainment activities.

Although her professional future remains uncertain, the defamation ruling gives Angelababy a clear legal response to some of the most damaging rumors surrounding her personal life.
