Veteran actor So Ji-sub recently shared a rare glimpse into his personal life, revealing that he is naturally introverted and rarely spends time out in public. The actor made the confession during a guest appearance on a YouTube video uploaded to the channel YouTube Ha Ji-young on June 24. The video, titled “So Ji-sub Appears in Seongsu-dong! Citizens React to Seeing Him in Person”, followed the star as he met fans during a surprise street event in Seoul.
Joining broadcaster Ha Ji-young, So Ji-sub spent time interacting with citizens in Seongsu-dong, one of Seoul’s trendiest districts among younger generations. Despite the appearance being unannounced, large crowds quickly gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor. Fans enthusiastically greeted him, while many expressed amazement at seeing him in person.
So Ji=sub revealed that it was actually his first time visiting Seongsu-dong. Throughout the event, he warmly greeted fans, posed for selfies, and engaged in conversations, creating a friendly atmosphere.

During the event, So Ji-sub reflected on why the experience felt so meaningful. “I’m very grateful. People still recognize me and continue looking for my work, which is why I’m able to keep acting.”
The actor then revealed details about his everyday personality. “I’m naturally introverted. I don’t go out much, and I don’t meet people very often.” He added that opportunities to interact directly with the public are rarer than many people might think. “Because I normally don’t have chances like this, meeting people face-to-face allows me to feel their energy.”
When asked about remaining popular after nearly three decades in the entertainment industry, So Ji-sub responded with characteristic humility. The actor was particularly surprised when he met a fan born in 2006. “It probably isn’t easy for someone that young to have watched many of my older projects. I think I’ve been able to stay known because I’ve continued working consistently. It makes me want to work even harder.”

So Ji-sub also shared his thoughts on why people continue to find him intriguing. “I think it’s because I don’t expose myself very often. It’s not really a mystery concept. People have seen my dramas and films, but they rarely get the chance to see me in real life.” He laughed while explaining that his limited public appearances may contribute to the curiosity surrounding him.
Reflecting on his career longevity, So Ji-sub admitted that he remains touched whenever fans recognize him. “I’ve been active for around 30 years now, and it’s still amazing that both young people and older generations recognize me.” His comments highlighted the enduring popularity that has followed him throughout a career spanning multiple generations of Korean entertainment fans.
So Ji-sub married former broadcaster Jo Eun-jung in 2020. The couple attracted significant attention due to their 17-year age difference and have largely maintained a private lifestyle since their marriage. Known for keeping his personal life out of the spotlight, So Ji-sub’s candid comments about his introverted personality offered fans a rare look at the man behind the screen.
