The controversy reportedly began after viewers noticed that Song Ji Hyo appeared for only around 10 seconds during a 90-minute episode of Running Man . Most of her screen time reportedly consisted of reaction shots or group scenes, with little footage showing her actively participating in the games. Some viewers accused her of appearing passive and disengaged, while others demanded that she leave the long-running program.

The criticism grew because Song Ji Hyo had also received only around one minute of screen time in another recent episode. Viewers expected her participation to improve after the backlash.
