Cristiano Ronaldo drew attention with a humorous response after reporters asked him for a pay raise and a company car following Portugal’s 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan.
During a post-match interview with LiveMode Portugal , a media company in which Ronaldo is a shareholder, one reporter jokingly referred to the football star as their boss. “You are the best boss in the world. When can we negotiate a salary increase?” the reporter asked.

Another journalist added that he did not need a raise but wanted a company car instead, joking that any vehicle from Ronaldo’s collection would be acceptable. Ronaldo laughed at the unexpected requests and replied, “That’s funny. I like it. Today is a good day to make jokes like that.”
The cheerful exchange reflected his mood after an impressive performance against Uzbekistan. Ronaldo scored twice as Portugal secured a convincing victory in its second Group K match. The goals reportedly made him the first player to score at six different World Cups. At 41, he also became the oldest footballer to score at least twice in a single World Cup match.

Ronaldo’s career total rose to 975 goals, bringing him closer to the 1,000-goal milestone he has repeatedly identified as a major target before retirement. Portugal will complete the group stage against Colombia on June 28, with the match expected to determine the top position in Group K.
