BIGBANG member Daesung and KARA’s Heo Young Ji recently became the subject of online dating rumors after fans spotted the two idols together at a concert.

On June 20, photos and videos of Daesung, Heo Young Ji, and OH MY GIRL’s Hyojung attending MAMAMOO’s concert began spreading across social media and online communities. The three stars were seen enjoying the performance together at the venue.

What attracted the most attention, however, was the interaction between Daesung and Heo Young Ji. In the photos, the two stood closely together while looking at a MAMAMOO light stick, creating a natural and friendly atmosphere that quickly caught fans’ attention.

As the images circulated online, fans from around the world began sharing their reactions. Some jokingly wrote comments such as, “My heart is broken,” while others insisted, “They’re probably just close friends,” and “Heo Young Ji likely doesn’t think of it that way.”

The rumors gained even more traction because the pair had previously been linked in playful discussions on Daesung’s YouTube show Zip Daesung.

During an episode aired in October last year, Daesung mentioned former guests Heo Young Ji and Kang Ji Young while sharing a humorous story involving fellow BIGBANG member Taeyang.

According to Daesung, Taeyang jokingly encouraged him to pursue Heo Young Ji. He recalled feeling embarrassed as he explained that Taeyang had made similar comments when singer Chungha appeared on the show, adding that his older groupmate often tells him to “give it a try” whenever he meets someone.

The production team also read a comment from a viewer who jokingly predicted that Daesung would eventually end up with “the one sitting in the middle,” referring to Heo Young Ji, which further fueled laughter and speculation at the time.

Following the latest wave of rumors, Daesung’s agency RND Company quickly addressed the situation.

Speaking to Korean media on June 22, the company clarified that Daesung and Heo Young Ji became friends after appearing together on Zip Daesung and simply attended the MAMAMOO concert as colleagues.

“They became close after ‘Zip Daesung’ and went to watch the MAMAMOO concert together,” the agency stated. “They are nothing more than close colleagues. The dating rumors are not true.”

The agency’s statement came after videos from the concert spread online, showing Daesung and Heo Young Ji sitting side by side, examining MAMAMOO merchandise, and chatting comfortably throughout the event.

Some clips captured the pair laughing together, which led certain netizens to speculate about a possible romantic relationship.

However, many fans pointed out that OH MY GIRL’s Hyojung was also present during the outing. They argued that the rumors appeared to grow because photos and videos circulating online focused almost exclusively on Daesung and Heo Young Ji while largely excluding Hyojung from the frame.

With the agency now officially denying the reports, the concert outing appears to have been nothing more than a gathering between friends and fellow entertainers. Nevertheless, the incident once again demonstrated how quickly casual interactions between celebrities can spark widespread speculation among fans online.
