Zhao Lusi is one of the most prominent young actresses in the Chinese entertainment industry, having built a successful career through hit dramas such as Love Like the Galaxy, The Romance of Tiger and Rose, The Story of Pearl Girl, and Oh! My Emperor.
With her sweet visuals, natural acting style, and massive fan base, the actress, born in 1998, has consistently ranked among the most influential young stars in China for several years.
However, in late 2024, while filming the drama Almost Lover alongside Peng Guan Ying, Zhao Lusi unexpectedly experienced serious health issues. She later confirmed that she had been suffering from anxiety and depression, forcing her to suspend all entertainment activities to focus on treatment. The news shocked many fans, as the actress had always projected a bright and energetic public image.
After stepping away from the spotlight for a period of time, Zhao Lusi returned to work early last year. However, she soon became embroiled in conflicts with her former management company, which significantly impacted her career. At one point, she even shut down her Weibo account, which had tens of millions of followers.
As her career faced mounting challenges, the drama Love’s Ambition, starring Zhao Lusi and William Chan, premiered in September last year and became a major success. The drama’s strong performance not only helped her terminate her contract with her former agency, sign with a new management company, and establish her own studio, but also dramatically boosted her commercial value.
According to Up Media, the actress has secured 14 new endorsement contracts in just the past six months. Chinese media outlets have also recently reported that Zhao Lusi is expected to become an ambassador for two of the world’s leading luxury brands, Valentino and Chanel.
In addition to her busy commercial schedule, Zhao Lusi is reportedly being considered as a guest for Mango TV’s new variety show Friday Night Fever. The program explores the nightlife experiences of young people in different cities and is expected to offer a fresh concept compared to current television entertainment shows.
