gong ki tak poker player comeback

On May 18, a new video titled “Is It Real That We’re Meeting Again After 32 Years..? KBS 12th Class Reunion” was uploaded to the YouTube channel run by Kim Sook. The video featured a reunion of comedians from KBS’s 12th open recruitment class, including Kim Sook, Hong Seok Cheon, Lee Jang Sook, and Gong Ki Tak.

When Kim Sook asked him about his current life, Gong Ki Tak jokingly replied that he was “farming,” drawing laughter from everyone on set.

However, Lee Jang Sook later surprised viewers by revealing that Gong Ki Tak had gone through several career changes over the years and had now become a gambler.

In response, Gong Ki Tak immediately clarified, saying, “I’m not a gambler, I’m a professional poker player.”

He further explained that even his official portal profile lists him as both a comedian and a professional poker player. According to Gong Ki Tak, very few people in South Korea are officially recognized under the occupation title “professional poker player,” adding that former professional gamer Lim Yo Hwan is one of the few others publicly identified that way.

Gong Ki Tak also described Texas Hold’em poker as a “mind sport” and stated that he has won numerous trophies at international competitions.

The comedian originally debuted in 1995 after winning the grand prize at KBS’s “College Comedy Festival.” He later became active across various television programs before his career came to a sudden halt in 2013 after becoming involved in an illegal sports gambling scandal.

At the time, reports stated that Gong Ki Tak had placed bets totaling approximately ₩1.79 billion KRW. Following the investigation, he received a six-month prison sentence suspended for one year, after which he largely disappeared from the broadcasting industry.
