On April 29, Go So-young uploaded a video to her personal YouTube channel, where she looked back on her past acting projects and talked honestly about the years she spent away from the screen.

When asked about the most representative work of her career, Go So-young jokingly replied, “I don’t really have a truly representative work. That’s a shame. Could marrying my husband be my most valuable work?” Her husband is actor Jang Dong-gun, one of Korea’s most famous stars.

Go So-young admitted that when she was younger, she did not focus strongly on building her career. She said, “When I was young, I only wanted to have fun. Now I work 5 days a week, but back then, once I did one thing, I couldn’t do anything else.” The actress also shared that she had been affected by many false rumors during her career, including dating rumors and claims that she was pregnant before marriage. Because of that, she became somewhat cautious around the media.

After spending many years as a wife and mother, Go So-young said she is now asking herself what she truly likes and what she wants to devote herself to. She explained, “My first child is now 17 years old and takes care of everything well even without me. For 10 years, I really only focused on raising my children. I was even obsessed with being a mother.”

Go So-young also confessed that returning to the entertainment industry comes with pressure. She said, “My husband is a famous person, right? The thought that my actions could affect my children and family made it difficult for me to easily say what I wanted to say.”

Go So-young, born in 1972, was once considered one of the most admired actresses in Korean entertainment for both her beauty and acting. She appeared in dramas and films such as Memories, Beat, Love Wind Love Song, and A Day. She married Jang Dong-gun in 2010 and largely stepped back from acting afterward, appearing mainly in advertisements from time to time.

Recently, Go So-young signed with a new entertainment agency and is reportedly looking for new acting opportunities. The star couple is also known for their luxurious lifestyle, including high-end fashion, expensive real estate, and overseas travel. Go So-young is often described by Korean media as one of the “rich ladies” of Korean entertainment.
