The TV Chosun drama Doctor Shin continues its upward trajectory, setting yet another personal best in viewership ratings.
Episode 14, which aired on April 26, recorded a peak nationwide rating of 2.5% per minute according to Nielsen Korea, marking a new high for the series. The episode intensified the storyline with a major revelation: Geum Bara (played by Joo Sebin) confirmed her birth secret—her biological father is Paul Kim (Ji Youngsan), and her mother is Hyun Ranhee (Song Ji-in). Additionally, her connection with Momo (Baek Seo-ra) was further unveiled, heightening the drama’s tension.
In this episode, Geum Bara visited Paul Kim’s house in Yangpyeong, where she stumbled upon traces of his past. While looking through an album, she discovered a woman who closely resembled her, sparking suspicion. Her shock deepened when she found a diary entry reading, “Hyun Ranhee has died. I’m worried about Momo.” Determined to uncover the truth, she conducted a DNA test using Paul Kim’s hair and toothbrush. Upon seeing the result—“99.9% genetic match. A paternal relationship between Kim Youngjoon and Geum Bara is established”—she broke down in tears.
After giving birth, Geum Bara displayed even more complex emotions. Reflecting on Ha Yongjoong (Ahn Woo-yeon), she murmured, “I don’t resent you. I’m grateful. Because of you, I have this baby, and I found my father.” However, during a phone call with Paul Kim, she ultimately failed to reveal the truth and hung up.

Meanwhile, Momo showed increasing instability in her relationship with Ha Yongjoong. Still shaken after her miscarriage, she grew more obsessive toward him, leading to a major conflict over infertility clinic issues. During a heated argument, when Momo lashed out, telling him to “go live with Geum Bara, who’s heavily pregnant,” Ha Yongjoong decided to pursue divorce. He later confessed to James (Jeon No-min) that he needed to find Bara, admitting the possibility that her child could be his—hinting at further complications ahead.
The encounter between Ha Yongjoong and Shin Jushin (Jung E-chan) also left a lingering impact. As they reflected on Geum Bara, Ha Yongjoong expressed disappointment in Momo, saying she was not the person he once imagined. Shin Jushin, seemingly speaking on Bara’s behalf, remarked that she simply wanted to be seen as a woman, suggesting she had suffered because of Yongjoong’s fixation on Momo.
Toward the end of the episode, Geum Bara reappeared before Momo, who was struggling with the looming divorce, revealing a cold and tense emotional exchange. Shortly after, Shin Jushin informed Ha Yongjoong that Bara had been hospitalized. The episode concluded with Yongjoong rushing to her side, building anticipation for what comes next.
Following the broadcast, viewers responded enthusiastically to the drama’s twist-filled storyline and the actors’ emotional performances, praising its gripping and unpredictable narrative.
