On March 27, Uhm Ji Won shared a short video on her personal social media account, writing, “I, Uhm Ji Won… will tell the story of being a descendant of Eom Heung-do.”
In the video, the actress explained her special connection to the blockbuster film that surpassed 15 million viewers. She said, “All people with the surname Eom (Uhm, Um) share the same origin, so we are basically one family. We belong to the Yeongwol Eom clan, so we are all relatives.”
Revealing her lineage, Uhm Ji Won shared, “When studying our family history, I once asked if we had any famous ancestors. My father told me about Eom Heung-do. Even before the film was released, I already knew that he was the one who recovered King Danjong’s body.”
It was further revealed that her father belongs to the 30th generation, while she is part of the 31st generation of the lineage. Uhm Ji Won expressed her emotions, saying she felt deeply moved that such a respected ancestor from her family has received so much love. She also mentioned other well-known figures sharing the same surname, including Eom Ki-young, Um Hong-gil, Eom Young-soo, Uhm Jung-hwa, and Uhm Aeng-ran.
Notably, Uhm Ji Won also shared a playful remark about her upcoming project with Yoo Hae-jin. Referring to him as “my husband,” she joked, “I can’t help but love the Eom family.”
Meanwhile, the film The King’s Warden continues to achieve remarkable success. As of March 26, it recorded over 15.1 million cumulative viewers, further solidifying its status as a major box office hit.
