On March 26, during a preparatory hearing at the Seoul Central District Court, Danielle’s legal representatives stated, “ADOR is prolonging the lawsuit. For Danielle, who is an idol, a prolonged case inevitably causes damage.” They emphasized that this period represents a critical phase in her career, adding, “This is the most shining time for an idol. The agency is aware of this, yet appears to be intentionally delaying the process.”
Her side also raised concerns about the scope of the lawsuit, pointing out that it was not only filed against Danielle but also against her family member and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, despite their lack of direct contractual involvement. This, they suggested, further complicates and prolongs the dispute. “This lawsuit was not filed against Danielle alone but also against defendants not directly related, such as her mother. We request that the trial proceed quickly and intensively.”

The legal team revealed that ADOR had previously requested to delay the hearing by two months, reinforcing their claim that the agency is attempting to extend the timeline. They argued that the key issues and much of the evidence have already been identified, and there is no valid reason for the case to be dragged out further, urging the court to proceed swiftly.
However, ADOR’s side countered, “This case is a lawsuit for damages and penalties for breach of contract. Since it does not dictate the defendant’s entertainment activities, the defendant is free to decide on their own career path. This case is not the reason for any delays in her activities.”
The lawsuit stems from ADOR’s decision in December to file for damages following its contract dispute with Danielle. The conflict traces back to tensions between HYBE and former CEO Min Hee Jin, after which members of NewJeans demanded her reinstatement.
When this was rejected, the members claimed their contracts had been terminated due to ADOR’s violations. However, the court later ruled that the contracts remained valid, siding with the agency.

In the aftermath, Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni moved toward returning to activities, while Minji continues discussions. Danielle remains the only member whose contract was terminated by ADOR, placing her in a uniquely uncertain position.
