In a recent video shared on her YouTube channel, “The World of the Married” actress Shim Eun Woo reflected on the difficult years following her school bullying allegations in 2021, which led her to halt all acting activities.
She shared a deeply personal realization, “There was someone I couldn’t help but hate for months. But now, I realize that feeling is no longer there.” She explained that she had been mentally stuck in the past, believing her life would remain unhappy. Over time, however, she found herself letting go and wishing even those involved in the controversy well.
During her hiatus, Shim Eun Woo revealed that she has been working as a yoga instructor for eight years, continuing to teach and guide students while stepping away from the spotlight. She admitted that in the past five years, she has had almost no acting opportunities, appearing in only one audition during that time.
Despite this, she expressed gratitude simply for being able to audition again, showing a renewed determination to rebuild her career. The video also captured moments from her attempt to return to acting through theater. After passing the first round of auditions for the play Yellow Moon, she expressed excitement, only to later reveal she had not advanced to the next stage.
Even so, she remained positive, saying, “The fact that I can audition is something I’m thankful for. I want to enjoy the process and hopefully share good news in the future.” Shim Eun Woo also revealed that the controversy took a significant toll on her mental and physical health.
According to those close to her, she has undergone continuous psychological counseling but still experiences chest pain, anxiety, and even tic disorder symptoms. Regarding the school bullying accusations, Shim Eun Woo stated that after a long legal battle, investigations concluded that she was not guilty of school violence.
Her side emphasized that clear evidence supporting her innocence was documented during the investigation, although the controversy had already impacted her career significantly.
