According to an MBN report on January 29, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office indicted rapper A the previous day on charges of avoiding military duty by allegedly feigning a mental illness.
Rapper A initially received a Grade 2 physical classification during his first military examination in 2016, making him eligible for active-duty service. However, prosecutors stated that from January to June 2022, he visited a psychiatric clinic multiple times and pretended to suffer from a mental disorder in order to avoid enlistment.
As a result, he was later reclassified as Grade 4 and deemed eligible for alternative service as a public service worker due to depression. Authorities reported, however, that the Military Manpower Administration’s special judicial police detected suspicious circumstances suggesting deliberate military evasion.
In response to the news, Mnet stated, “We are currently in the process of verifying the facts.” The network has not yet announced any decisions regarding the rapper’s appearance on the program.
Meanwhile, Show Me the Money , which first premiered in 2012, returned with its 12th season on January 15, continuing its long-running legacy as one of Korea’s most prominent hip-hop survival shows.
