On the December 22 broadcast of TV Chosun’s variety show Lovers of Joseon, Ryu Si Won and his wife appeared as guests at the wedding of comedian Yoon Jung Soo and broadcaster-Pilates instructor Won Jin Seo (also known as Won Ja Hyun). Ryu Si Won warmly congratulated his close friend Yoon Jung Soo with a handshake, while his wife initially hesitated to approach, appearing shy. Noticing this, Yoon Jung Soo jokingly called out, “Sister-in-law, where are you going?” prompting her to step forward and greet him with a bashful smile.
This marked the first time Ryu Si Won’s wife had been shown on television. With her youthful appearance and pure, elegant aura, she surprised viewers, many commenting that she could easily pass for a professional actress. Panelist Hwang Bo Ra exclaimed, “Why is she so pretty?” while others echoed with reactions such as “Wow, she’s beautiful” and “She’s really stunning.” Yoon Jung Soo added humorously, “She looks like that, but she’s a math teacher,” to which Hwang Bo Ra replied, “That makes her even more attractive.”
Ryu Si Won also shared his heartfelt feelings, joking, “I didn’t think Yoon Jung Soo would ever get married,” before adding sincerely, “Seeing Jung Soo get married makes me so happy. I hope the two of you stay happy forever.”
Previously, on SBS’s Dolsing Fourmen, Ryu Si Won revealed details of his love story. He explained that he first met his wife at a dinner gathering with acquaintances and that her appearance perfectly matched his ideal type. However, after dating for 10 months, he broke things off due to fears about reality and the future. Even after the breakup, they stayed in touch once or twice a year. Three years later, when she became a middle school teacher, they reunited. He recalled thinking, “How can someone be this beautiful?” and felt certain he should never let her go. After dating again for another year, the couple decided to marry.
Ryu Si Won also revealed that his wife earns more than he does, explaining that she left her first job after a year and became a private instructor in Daechi-dong. He added that during their wedding preparations, she received an exceptional offer from a major academy but chose to prioritize marriage over work, declining the contract to marry him instead.
Ryu Si Won previously married in 2010 and had a daughter before divorcing in 2015 after legal proceedings. In February 2020, he remarried a Daechi-dong math instructor who is 19 years younger than him, and in December last year, he welcomed his second daughter.
