Kim Yoo0jung is set to make her big-screen comeback with a unique fantasy occult comedy, Vengeful Spirit (working title), showcasing a completely new side of the actress.
According to Dispatch, Kim Yoo-jung will star in Vengeful Spirit, directed by Hong Eui-jung of Voice of Silence fame. The film pairs her with Park Ji-hwan and Jo Yeo Jeong, promising an unusual blend of dark fantasy, comedy, and emotional storytelling.
Vengeful Spirit follows the story of a ghost named Yoon-ha and a goblin who dreams of becoming human. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to save Yoon-ha’s younger sibling, who is trapped in a life-threatening situation.
Kim Yoo-jung takes on the role of Yoon-ha, a young woman who dies unfairly in an unexpected accident. Unable to move on due to her concern for her younger sibling, Yoon-ha remains in the human world as a ghost. Kim Yoo-jung’s transformation into a vengeful yet emotionally driven spirit is expected to mark a striking departure from her previous roles.
Park Ji-hwan plays the Goblin, a supernatural being who has spent 400 years yearning to become human. After being freed from his long confinement by Yoon-ha, he forms an unpredictable partnership with her, creating what is expected to be one of the film’s standout dynamics.
Jo Yeo-jeong joins the cast as Joo-bo, a powerful shaman who hunts Yoon-ha after she becomes a ghost. Acting as a bridge between the living and the dead, Joo-bo is described as an intense and commanding character who adds tension to the story.
The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Ji Il-joo, Yoo Jae-myung, and Baek Hyun-jin, further raising expectations for the project.
Vengeful Spirit officially began filming on November 17 and is currently in production. With its unusual premise, genre-blending tone, and Kim Yoo-jung’s bold casting as a ghost, the film is already drawing attention as one of the most intriguing Korean movie projects in the works.
