Comedian Park Na-rae is facing renewed scrutiny as allegations have emerged suggesting she made staff install her luxury outdoor bath at her 5.5 billion KRW home while presenting it as her own work on TV.
The claims surfaced in the comments section of a YouTube video, where a netizen stated that 1–2 years ago, Park Na-rae filmed a segment showing her setting up a hinoki outdoor bath in her yard. The commenter alleged that while it appeared on television that Park Na-rae did all the work herself, she had actually requested the company to set it up for her free of charge.
“She asked the staff to complete the setup in just 1–2 days, so they worked overnight. Park Na-rae never offered thanks or even drinks, yet the TV segment made it seem like she did everything herself. I thought, ‘This is the kind of person she is.’”
Park Na-rae had introduced the outdoor bath on the November 2023 broadcast of MBC’s “I Live Alone”, describing it as her “ultimate dream and birthday gift to herself.” She decorated the area with bamboo panels and installed a water system, impressing panelists who praised the setup.
However, in light of ongoing allegations of managerial abuse and workplace mistreatment, the claim that the bath was installed with the help of staff, without gratitude, has intensified public criticism.
Previously, Park Na-rae’s former managers filed complaints against her, citing special injury, defamation, and violations under the Information and Communications Network Act. They alleged that she demanded personal errands, verbal abuse, and workplace harassment while refusing reimbursement for work-related expenses.
Park Na-rae is also under investigation over alleged illegal medical practices, reportedly receiving sleep and antidepressant medications from a so-called “injection aunt” at her officetel.
In response to the controversies, Park Na-rae stated on December 8: “Thanks to the help of others, I was able to meet with my former managers and clear up misunderstandings and distrust. I deeply reflect on my mistakes. I have decided to suspend all broadcasting activities until everything is fully resolved, so I do not burden programs and colleagues further.”
The new allegations regarding the outdoor bath add to the growing scrutiny surrounding Park Na-rae, who has already been at the center of multiple workplace abuse controversies.
