Recently, &TEAM member K became the center of an unexpected social media controversy after a post by adult club hostess Maocharu gained widespread attention. The post appeared to suggest that K had financially supported her through a “sponsorship tower,” prompting fans and netizens to question the claim and speculate about K’s involvement.

Maocharu, who works at a host club a venue where patrons pay for sessions including the company of a host and a set number of drinks shared images of her birthday celebration at the venue, highlighting her “sponsorship tower.” In her post, she listed several names, including K’s, alongside other figures associated with the club.
“Thank you so much for today’s sponsorship tower!” Maocharu wrote, adding to the initial speculation surrounding K.

For those unfamiliar, sponsorship towers at host clubs reflect customers’ purchases of expensive bottles, which contribute to the host’s or hostess’s earnings. While the posts can appear suggestive, these transactions are largely financial in nature and do not imply sexual favors. However, because K’s name was included, fans quickly grew concerned about the potential impact on the idol’s reputation.
In response to the growing speculation, Maocharu clarified that the post was intended as a joke and that K had no involvement in the tower:
“K would never do a tower. Those six towers I didn’t choose the names or anything. The customers decided the names and set them up themselves. It’s actually pretty common for customers to do this when they have a favorite host or hostess. Since there were some comments, I’ve hidden the posts for now. If anyone was worried, please share this explanation.”
Despite her clarification, the post continued to circulate online, with fans discussing and debating the implications. Many supporters of K emphasized that the situation was a misunderstanding and urged others to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors, noting that the “tower” was part of normal host club culture rather than any intentional association with the idol.
Fans have encouraged reporting the post to HYBE to prevent any potential reputational damage, reflecting the high level of vigilance within the K-pop community.
