Singer and producer MC Mong has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding a Hitler portrait spotted inside his home, calling the backlash “bewildering” and offering a detailed explanation.
The issue began when MC Mong uploaded a photo of his home interior on social media. Among the various artworks displayed, a portrait resembling Adolf Hitler known for his role in the Holocaust sparked criticism from netizens, who accused him of ignoring the historical sensitivity of the subject.

In response, MC Mong posted the artwork on Instagram, stating: “This painting is an early piece by artist Ok Seung-cheol. The mustache area was painted using straws to express color. It symbolizes human greed, selfishness, and the barbarism of draining the blood of others.”
He further explained that the painting had been displayed in his studio since his early days with music team “Duble Sidekick” and later at BPM Entertainment: “This piece has been hanging since the Duble Sidekick recording studio era and remained during the BPM Entertainment days. Please appreciate it as a piece of art.”
Visibly frustrated by the criticism, MC Mong continued: “Some artworks are meant to provoke critique and satire. People who know nothing about art are quick to write thoughtless comments. They impose their own interpretations without understanding the original intent.”

He firmly added: “I despise Hitler. I despise anyone who initiates war.”
This is not the first time MC Mong has faced controversy, but the recent uproar underscores the public’s increasing sensitivity to symbols associated with historical atrocities. While he emphasized the artistic intent, critics argue that public figures should be more mindful of how such imagery may be perceived.
Meanwhile, MC Mong has been active in the entertainment industry for years. He co-founded the label One Hundred with Cha Gawon in 2003 and served as the executive producer for the K-pop group BADVILLAIN. In July, he announced his departure from label operations due to deteriorating health and depression, revealing plans to study abroad.
