Singer and actor Cha Eun-woo (real name Lee Dong-min), who is currently serving in the military, made a surprise appearance as an English-speaking host at the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Summit leaders’ welcoming dinner — mesmerizing 21 world leaders with his polished manners, flawless pronunciation, and striking visuals.
The event took place on October 29 at the Lahan Hotel in Gyeongju, where Cha Eun-woo appeared in a sleek suit instead of his military uniform. Taking the podium confidently, he greeted the audience in fluent English, saying, “I never imagined I would stand here as a host tonight,” before smoothly transitioning into his opening remarks.
Witnesses at the scene described him as “calm, professional, and charismatic,” adding that “his English delivery and posture were perfect — he could easily host any diplomatic event.”

Cha Eun-woo is currently serving as a private first class in the Army’s Military Band under the Ministry of National Defense. For the APEC event, he was dispatched as part of the cultural protocol team supporting national ceremonies.
Photos of him moving with security personnel in uniform quickly went viral online. Netizens flooded community boards with comments like:
- He looks unreal in uniform.
- That’s not a soldier — that’s a K-drama hero.
- Even among world leaders, his face stands out.
Even staff members at the event were reportedly captivated, saying, “He looks even more handsome in person than on camera.”
Social media exploded after clips of his APEC hosting performance circulated on Twitter (X) and YouTube. Fans praised his confidence and composure in front of global dignitaries, writing:
- Is he really a soldier? He looked like the main MC of the summit!
- He took off the uniform, but not the handsomeness.
- He’s the pride of Korea — fluent, poised, and professional.
Many also called him “the busiest soldier in Korea,” referring to his simultaneous movie release, album preparation, and military service duties.

Cha Eun-woo enlisted on July 28, 2025, and was selected as training platoon leader during basic training for his outstanding conduct. Since then, he has represented the military at numerous official events and national ceremonies.
In addition to his APEC appearance, he continues to pursue his entertainment career:
- His new movie First Ride was released on October 29,
- His second mini-album ELSE is set to drop on November 21.
With his charm, confidence, and international appeal, Cha Eun-woo once again proved that his influence extends far beyond K-pop — straight to the global stage.
