In a recent appearance on the YouTube show Salon Drip, actress Kim Hee-sun opened up about her teenage daughter Yuna, sharing lighthearted anecdotes about motherhood, growing up, and her husband’s protective instincts.
When asked by host Jang Do-yeon when Yuna realized how famous her mother was, Kim Hee-sun laughed and replied, “She didn’t really know before, but after going to school abroad, her friends started saying, ‘I saw your mom on Netflix!’ That’s when she realized her mom was kind of cool.”
The actress then affectionately talked about their daily conversations: “We talk about school, friends, and sometimes even boys,” she said. “She plays the cello and once told me, ‘It was heavy, but a boy helped me press the elevator button.’ It was adorable.”
Kim Hee-sun shared that she still helps her daughter choose outfits, explaining, “When she was younger, I picked all her clothes. Now, she sends me photos asking, ‘What do you think about this?’” However, she humorously admitted that Yuna’s fashion choices have become more daring over time.
“Every time there’s a party abroad, her dresses get shorter and smaller,” Kim joked. “My husband (businessman Park Joo-young) saw the pictures and said, ‘I can’t even look at this!’ It’s hilarious.”
Despite his overprotectiveness, Kim Hee-sun expressed pride in her daughter’s confidence and individuality: “I’m proud to see her grow beautifully. Honestly, she’s more fashionable than I am these days.”
Kim Hee-sun married Park Joo-young in 2007 and welcomed their daughter Yuna in 2009. Now 16, Yuna is studying abroad in the United States. Kim Hee-sun occasionally shares glimpses of her daughter on social media, where fans adore the mother-daughter duo’s close bond.
